Wishes for the coming Spring (Shunkei lacquer) - S

¥550,000

Here in Hida region snow country, winter is long. We start lighting the stove in October after the Takayama Autumn Festival and keep it burning until the end of the Takayama Spring Festival, halfway through the year. Interestingly enough, to me that the feeling of 'waiting for spring' deepens as we get older. Waiting for spring"  may be a Japanese expression for a sense of living and a wish for life.

I named this piece "Wishes for the coming spring". When this long winter ends as we conquer Covid-19, I hope we will be able to hold each other in joy and excitement again.
